ORIGINAL WORLD WAR II BELGIUM SAFN 1949 BAYONET & SCABBARD
. (Inv. no. 0414) It is about 14 1/4 inches long with a 9 1/4inch blade. It is for the Saive Automatique Fabrique Nationale Modele 1949 self-loading rifle. It is marked on one side of the pommel 16871 SA 30. Some SAFN 1949s were used by Belgium. Others were exported to Columbia, Argentina, Columbia, and Egypt. The bayonet is in very good to fine condition with minor wear to the grips. The throat of the scabbard is marked 16871 and frog stud is marked Crown over J. The scabbard is in good to very good condition with minor wear. This is outside my area of collecting and expertise and I have relied on references books and the internet. Please email any questions.
